Dated 14 December 1882, document appoints one James Pettit as 1st Lieutenant in the 1st Infantry. Signed ''Chester A. Arthur'' to partially printed document, with blue War Department seal. Measures 15.75'' x 19.75''. Folds and light staining. Very good condition.
