White House exhibit edition china plate of the design commissioned by President and First Lady Truman. Verso of plate features the famed Lenox watermark and reads, ''Exhibit Collection for Lenox Inc. / The White House 1951''. As a part of the ''exhibit collection'', this plate was designated to serve in displays of White House china or go on loan to various Presidential exhibits. Design features the Great Seal of the U.S. in gilt on the rim, with a pine green stripe flanked by gilt bands at the edge and a single gilt ring around the center. Made by Lenox, one of the United States' only producers of ''bone china'', which is distinguished for its white luminosity and chip resistance. Measures 10.5'' in diameter, in fine condition.
