Exceptional Dwight D. Eisenhower autograph letter signed from Europe during WWII. The celebrated General writes to his wife, Mamie, dating his letter simply 15 July [1944], one month after D-Day and during the Allies' retaking of Europe. It reads in part, ''...you had the reports on our current operation. Now you can see why I've been talking lately of 'pressure'. Everything is going well at the moment. I hope we can keep on in the same way. My correspondence is in arrears. I owe a hundred letters - but I can't help it. I hear from people who say they are intimate friends - they've become so since my name got into the papers. Butch and I still try to answer all except those palpably looking for a signature - those they throw into the waste basket. My gosh - here is Marshall with the report. Lots of love, my sweet - I miss you terribly! Always your / Ike''. 2pp. on ruled stationery measures 8'' x 10.5''. Creasing, else near fine.
