Typewriter used by screenwriter Joseph Stefano to write the horror classic ''Psycho'', considered one of the finest cinematic experiences in film history. Inexperienced at the time, Stefano was commissioned by Alfred Hitchcock to write the adaptation of Robert Bloch's novel in 1960, and the horror film went on to become a critical and financial success, breaking the mold of what constituted ''terrifying''. The film was nominated for an Academy Award and selected for preservation in the National Film registry in 1992. After his work on ''Psycho'', Stefano went on to write twelve early episodes for the cult science fiction television show ''The Outer Limits'', and the episodes were also written on this typewriter. The olive green Olympia brand typewriter is fully functional, and is accompanied by its original olive green cover. Measures 12.5'' x 16'' x 7.5'' Slight tears and staining to the typewriter cover. Very good. With two LOAs from Joseph Stefano's widow and son.
