Rare, very early ''Cleopatra'' drawing of Liz Taylor seated on a giant sphinx, drawn by noted Hollywood art director and production designer John DeCuir. Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, the 1963 blockbuster film was one of the most expensive productions in Hollywood history and famously brought Richard Burton and Liz Taylor together. Drawing depicts Cleopatra's arrival on a giant sphinx leading a massive procession into ancient Rome. Arguably, one of the most jaw-dropping scenes in the film, with an incredibly elaborate set and thousands of extras. Pencil drawing on thin rice paper measures 11'' x 8.5'' with minor bends to corners, else near fine.
