Bing Crosby typed letter signed. Dated 12 September 1974, letter on Crosby's personal stationery is addressed to Earl Carmichael, Director of Parks & Recreation for the city of Santa Clara, CA. It reads in part, ''...I'm going to be gone until the first of October, but I should be available any day after that...I would like to participate in anything that pays homage to the great [coach] Schmidty. He's been a long time friend and supporter, and I'm very fond of him. Thank you for the picture of [Olympic swim coach] George Haines and myself, taken at one of the Swimming Meets...[signed] Bing''. Single-page letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Creasing, staple puncture to upper left and smudge near the bottom, else near fine. With mailing envelope, but dated 1967, so it may not have originally been paired with this letter.
