Apollo 16 astronaut Ken Mattingly signed and inscribed official NASA photo, stamp-dated May 1966 to verso. Photo depicts Mattingly posing in a suit and clutching a model of the spacecraft. Inscribed in blue marker at upper right, ''Jack -- It's a true friend who'll take your place on a 6a.m. mission. Thanks'', and signed ''T.K.'' as initials of Thomas ''Ken'' Mattingly. Swigert replaced Mattingly as Command Module Pilot on Apollo 13 after Mattingly and the others from the original crew were exposed to a contagious disease. Glossy photo measures 8'' x 10'' with slight curling to edges, particularly right edge, and toning to mat, else near fine. With an LOA from Swigert's sister.
