Preliminary pencil illustration by American artist Garth Williams for the scene in E.B. White's 1952 children's book ''Charlotte's Web'' in which Fern tries to prevent her father from killing a runt piglet who would become her pet, Wilbur. Williams initials the 8.5'' x 11'' sketch ''GW'' at the lower right and numbers it ''3.16329'' on the verso. Minor creasing, else near fine condition.
