Original Jim Henson ''Muppets'' character sketch of his early characters, ''The Boss Men,'' or ''Two gigantic feather guys each about 14' tall''. The Boss Men made an early television debut along with the other Muppets on 13 October 1974 with a guest spot on a Herb Alpert television special, ''Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass.'' Sketch with handwritten notes by Henson portrays an envisioned scene for the show, which Henson used for a pitch meeting with ATV Studios in London. The Muppet Show filmed two pilots, one in 1974 and one in 1975 before being aired in 1976. Story-board type sheet has detailed handwritten notes by Henson envisioning a Boss Men dance number: ''Dance Piece #4 Boss Men 'Love Potion #9' / Two gigantic feather guys each about 14' tall - work in front of band with H. Alpert. Same kind of set-up as Gazelles - dark background & floor - Puppeteers show, but in silhouette only. Puppeteer in black with black hood''. With two detailed color pencil sketches of the Boss Men with their respective muppeteers guiding them. The Bossmen did indeed dance around Alpert while the band performed. At the end of the number, Jim Henson and Frank Oz are seen sitting in the audience, performing Bert and Ernie. White board measures 13.75'' x 10.75'' and is framed in a transparent acrylic case equipped with wall mountings to an overall size of 17.25'' x 14.25''. A few minor scratches to acrylic, else near fine condition.
