John F. Kennedy worn silk neck-tie, made by A. Sulka & Company. With impeccable provenance from the John McInnis sale of the collection of Dave Powers, Special Assistant to Kennedy, and accompanied by an LOA from Powers' son, David J. Powers, that reads: ''My name is Dave Powers, and my late father was David F. Powers, Special Assistant to President John F. Kennedy, and Curator at the Kennedy Library and Museum in Boston. Many consider my father to have been President Kennedy's best friend. They campaigned together from 1946 to 1963, and traveled the world together on presidential visits from 1960 to 1963. During their travels, they frequently needed to switch from casual attire to something more formal. My father and JFK were not the same size, but that mattered little when it came to neckties. This A. Sulka & Company navy silk tie with gray graphic design was worn by JFK and subsequently ended up with my father, who may have worn it as well, as they did share on occasion. My father carefully separated this tie from others that were his alone and preserved it among his valuable memorabilia and archives. My father was in the fateful motorcade in Dallas, right behind President Kennedy's vehicle. I can imagine that retaining a personal item of JFK's such as this and very few others allowed him to keep the President's memory very close.'' Measures 54'' long, in very good to near fine condition.
