Award inducting Con Conrad into the Songwriters Hall of Fame posthumously in 1972. The Songwriters Hall of Fame was created in 1969 and has a short roster of under 400 inductees divided into three groups, with Conrad categorized in the Tin Pan Alley era group from 1880-1953. Conrad won the first Academy Award ever issued in the category of ''Best Original Song'' in 1934 with ''The Continental,'' the theme for Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire's hit film ''The Gay Divorcee.'' In the 1920's, Conrad wrote such hit songs as ''Margie,'' ''Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me,'' ''You've Got to See Your Mama Every Night,'' ''Memory Lane,'' ''Lonesome and Sorry,'' ''Palesteena'' and ''Come on Spark Plug.'' He also enjoyed a prolific career scoring Broadway shows. Printed certificate is signed by the organization's president and secretary. Measures 13'' x 10''. A few tiny stains to right edge and to left of seal, else near fine. An extremely scarce homage to a history-making songwriter.
