World-famous Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso's signed hand-drawn sketch. Best known for signing tenor in dozens of operas at the turn of the century, Caruso was also a well-known master of caricature art, often drawing characters he played on stage. This portrait, circa 1917, depicts an older man with a beard and balding head, wearing a bowtie around his neck. Caruso writes a note or name beneath his signature, possibly in Italian. Drawing is done in charcoal and measures 6.75'' x 9''. Toning, some tears and paper loss, though discreet as its affixed to a matching background. Matted in white to an overall size of 10.5'' x 14.5''. Overall in good to very good condition.
