Margaret Mitchell signed first edition of her masterpiece ''Gone With The Wind,'' published by Macmillan: New York: 1936, with the May 1936 date on the copyright page. She inscribes the front free endpaper: ''For / Howard Forrest / Margaret Mitchell'' in bold black script. Her Pulitzer Prize-winning epic novel, set in the American South during the Civil War and Reconstruction, became the classic film of the same name. Runs 1037pp. Bound in khaki green cloth boards with blue print lettering. Measures 6'' x 8.75''. Light staining to front board, wear to exterior edges and cracked interior hinges. Very good overall.
