Carl Laemmle typed letter signed to an admirer of ''Dracula'' starring Bela Lugosi. He writes a lengthy letter on 9 June 1931 about the upcoming production schedule that would give his Universal Pictures the reputation as the horror movie studio. Reads in part: ''...I was interested to have you tell me you found DRACULA such a thrilling tale and that it so thoroughly appealed to you. You will be glad to know its success has prompted us to arrange for the production of two other pictures of a similarly fantastic nature on our schedule for this season - FRANKENSTEIN by Mary Shelley and MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE by Edgar Allan Poe. We feel particularly fortunate to have secured the services of Bela Lugosi, who you felt played the part of Count Dracula with such consummate skill...'' Single page measures 8.25'' x 11'' on Universal Pictures, New York letterhead. Framed with a photo of Laemmle and a plaque reading, ''Carl Laemmle / 1867 - 1939 / The Founder of Universal Pictures 1912''. Frame measures 28'' x 22''. Near fine.
