Caricature hand-drawn by world-famous Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso, unsigned, of fellow operatic legend, French singer Pol Plancon. Best known for his signature role as Canio in ''Pagliacci,'' Caruso was also a pioneer in recorded sound, selling a million records at the dawn of the medium. More obscure was his passion for visual art, particularly caricatures, a medium he became quite accomplished at over his lifetime. Portrait depicts an oblique bust of Plancon with an exaggerated mustache and beard. With a note in Caruso's hand reading ''Marcello / Sao Paulo / BAires / 1917''. Portrait is drawn on a single sheet of Plaza Hotel Buenos Aires stationery. Measures 10.5'' x 6.75''. Matted to an overall size of 10.5'' x 14.5''. Minor toning and folds throughout, else near fine.
