The author of the 1963 children's book ''Where the Wild Things Are'' draws a captivating scene involving a dinosaur fossil and some Wild Things. He signs the lower right ''Maurice Sendak''. The story of a little boy's foray into an imaginary world of endearingly sensitive oversized creatures is one of the most popular children's stories of all time. Matted to an overall size of 17.5'' x 20'', visible area of drawing measures 12.25'' x 14.5''. Small .5'' tear to top edge at center, light smudging, and a smudge to mat bottom edge, else near fine.
