Richard Warren Sears autograph letter signed. Datelined Chicago, 20 October 1888, letter is addressed to B.F. Coleman in Ohio. Written on the stationery of R. W. Sears Watch company, his first startup and precursor to Sears-Roebuck. Letter reads in part, ''Dear Sir, I have a few open face stem with gold filled cases, warranted to wear 20 years, complete with full jeweled cut expansion balance...imported Swiss movements...Our regular price is $14.80 but will make you a disc. of 20% or $11.84 for the watch if you will endeavor to sell it. Answer personally on this sheet / Yours Truly / R.W. Sears...'' Single-page letter measures 8'' x 10.5''. A great deal of rubber stamping to a panel on verso and overall creasing from folding, else near fine.
