Visionary creator of ''Star Trek'' Gene Roddenberry typed letter signed, dated 29 April 1976. Addressed to Judy Thomases, an astrologist, on ''Star Trek / From the Log of the Starship'' illustrated letterhead. Letter reads in part, ''...Sorry it has taken so long to write this 'hello' and appreciation for your sparkling company...I had promised you some news on the STAR TREK movie and kept waiting and hoping each day that the thing would somehow be solved. I guess I believe in miracles. However, I can now report that we do seem to be making progress. It's been slow, tedious, but there seems a good chance that we are coming to an agreement with the principal actors and even a final agreement between the studio and myself. True to the American corporate image, Paramount keeps slipping new zingers in each version of the contract, probably hoping that shear fatigue will have us give up finally and sign it...the studio keeps insisting that we not only tie ourselves up with them for years but also agree to forgive and forget anything they may owe us from bad bookkeeping...don't quote me on this as I don't want to further complicate the negotiations by having the studio believe we are reporting all their shenanigans to outsiders...I still believe we will ultimately win. Hope all is going well with you and your projects...'' Signed ''Gene'' in black ink. Letter on one page measures 8.5'' x 11'' and is in near fine condition. Includes original and matching ''Star Trek'' decorated envelope.
