Golf great Walter Hagen signed first edition of his book, ''The Walter Hagen Story,'' published by Simon & Schuster: New York: 1956. The two-time U.S. Open winner signs, ''Walter Hagen'' on the front free endpaper in ink. Hagen is credited with legitimizing golf as an athletic profession, and this tome was instrumental in the PGA Tour's development. Book measures 6.25'' x 9.5'' and runs 342pp. Bound in maroon cloth boards and navy spine lettered in gilt. Includes original unclipped $4.95 dustjacket. Prior owner's name to front pastedown, else near fine. Dustjacket shows minor tears, including a 1'' tear to front cover, else very good.
