Margaret O'Brien costume dress from the 1948 MGM film, ''Tenth Avenue Angel''. O'Brien, one of Hollywood's most famous child actresses, played lead role ''Flavia Mills'', an eight year-old who lives with her family in a New York tenement during the Great Depression. Blue and white pinstripe dress with white lace collar is custom-made with a small tag sewn to inseam listing production numbers and ''Margaret O'Brien''. Costume originally featured a white apron over the dress, though apron is now missing. Dress snaps open along back and measures 12'' shoulder to shoulder and 28'' in length, with an 11'' waist. One small hole at sleeve and slight splitting at waist, else near fine. Originally acquired from the famous MGM Archives Sale, held in 1970 to free up space on the studio lot that had been occupied by the thousands of costumes and props used in MGM pictures over the years.
