Stunning Miss America-designed crown from the late 20th century. Crown was ordered by the New York chapter of the Miss America Organization from their official purveyor of crowns, Schoppy Trophy Co. in preparation for a proposed local-level pageant that was never held. The classic beauty pageant began in 1921 and has since provided millions in scholarships to young women. Four-point crown is made of hundreds of Swarovski crystals. Measures 4'' in diameter at the base and 2.25'' high, as standard for the Miss America Organization. In very good condition, with all stones present and barely discernible yellowing. Housed in its original red paper box with Schoppy sticker and packing leaflet. A scarce and glamorous piece of Americana.
