Spectacular wristwatch owned by Mercury 7 astronaut Deke Slayton. Watch is engraved on the back ''Flight Qualified by NASA For All Manned Space Missions / The First Watch Worn on the Moon'', and indeed, this black-faced, stainless steel chronograph, ''Omega Speedmaster Professional'' may be the only watch to be worn on the Moon, though we have no confirmation of this from Deke Slayton, who passed away in 1993. Model is manual wind, with a Plexiglas crystal, solid case back, black tachymeter bezel and sub-dials, powered by a caliber 861-based movement. With an anti-vibration and anti-magnetic dust cove. A two-tone stainless steel replacement wrist band is mounted on the watch. In near fine condition with minor wear. From the Donald K. ''Deke'' Slayton family collection.
