King George III signed Revolutionary War document listing the pay for each officer's regiment and battalion. Three years into the war, George was determined to never acknowledge the independence of America and to punish the thirteen colonies for declaring their sovereignty. Document dated 25 August 1778 is boldly signed ''George R'' at top. Lists 43 regiments and battalions, their pay and number of days, and reads ''By His Majesty's Command [additionally signed by] C.W. Cornwall''. Verso lists additional items including the servants' pay and that of two military drummers. 2pp. on 1 sheet measuring 11.5'' x 18''. Light toning and wear to edges, else near fine.
