Harry Truman typed letter signed as President, thanking General Charles A. Willoughby for some gifts. Willoughby served as General Douglas MacArthur's Chief of Intelligence during World War II and the Korean War. Written on White House letterhead on 24 January 1951, letter reads in part: ''...I appreciated most highly the beautiful cigarette case which was enclosed with Mrs. Truman's lovely bag...'' 1pp. measuring 7'' x 8.75''. Includes original White House envelope stamped ''Top Secret'' and delivered by security courier service. Near fine condition.
