Typed letter signed with an autograph postscript from Gerald Ford as House Minority Leader. Dated 6 October 1971, Ford thanks Congressman Bill Young for his vote to defer a pay raise for federal employees: ''...The vote...was critical to the effectiveness of the New Economic Program. Your help on a very tough issue was deeply appreciated by the President and also by me...[signed] Jerry''. Postscript in Ford's hand then reads ''P.S. Your speech was great. J.''
