New York Tribune newspaper dated 20 July 1861. 8pp. broadsheet, measuring 16'' x 32'', captures the First Battle of Bull Run with multi-faceted journalistic coverage. Highlight: in-depth Blockade of Galveston back page coverage. The First Bull Run, or Manassas Campaign, took place on 21 July 1861. Gen. McDowell's troops engaged Southern rivals Gen. Johnston and Gen. Beauregard in a battle that left 4,700 soldiers dead. Toning and chips on cotton and rag paper; overall excellent sample of early Civil War news in good condition.
