Letter is addressed to former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara thanking him for his NAFTA allegiance, and reads in part: ''...The approval by Congress of the North American Free Trade Agreement reaffirms our tradition of international leadership and sets our country firmly on a hopeful course toward regional cooperation. America has demonstrated to the world that we intend to compete vigorously in an open international economy. By cooperating with our neighbors, we will create thousands of high-wage jobs here at home...By dedicating your personal support to the NAFTA cause, you helped convince the Congress...that NAFTA is a momentous opportunity...and a cause for hope, not fear...'' Signed ''Bill'' in black ink, and also hand-addressed to ''Bob'' at top. 1pp. letter measures 7'' x 10.5'' and is in fine condition.
