Cartoonist Walter Lantz signs a first day cover, dated 17 November 1966, commemorating American artist Mary Cassatt. Lantz sketches his famous character ''Woody Woodpecker'' and signs ''Walter Lantz 1981''. Woody made his debut forty years earlier, in 1941, in a short entitled ''Knock Knock.'' Lantz also signs the silver sticker displaying Cassatt's artwork that is affixed to the 6.5'' x 3.5'' envelope with a Washington, D.C postmark. Near fine condition.
