Arthur Ashe's Emmy award. Documentary Emmy was awarded to Ashe for the teleplay adaptation of his book, ''A Hard Road to Glory: A History of the African-American Athlete,'' published by Warner Books: New York: 1988. The epic work delves into the sparsely-recorded but significant achievements of black athletes beginning in 1619. The iconic winged woman holding an atom is made of metal and stands on the slightly convex, grid-lined surface of a round metal base. The base's flat perimeter reads ''The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences''. Measures approximately 13'' in total height with a 7.5'' diameter base. Emmy statue with brilliant patina is in near fine condition, save for an expert repair to break at the ankles and absent band around the base. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe's widow.
