Stunning silver trophy won by Arthur Ashe during the spring of his success in 1964. Engraving to the front of the bowl reads: ''Winner / 22nd Annual Perth Amboy / Invitational Tennis Tournament''. This competition was held in New Jersey in September of 1964 while Ashe was attending UCLA on a tennis scholarship. He had just made history the year before as the first African American tennis player ever chosen for the prestigious U.S. Davis Cup Team. Bowl, made by Sheffield Silver Company features a flared rim and sits on a 2.25'' tall stepped circular foot with an openwork floral band. Measures 11.5'' in diameter, 6.5'' in total height and weighs 2 pounds, 11 ounces. Foot measures 6.5'' in diameter. Two sections of tarnishing; one to the side and one to the rear, with a sprinkling of tarnish to the interior, else fine. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe's widow.
