Horace Greeley autograph letter signed, dated 28 August 1866 on ''Office of the Tribune'' stationery. Greeley became an important Civil War journalist who used his powerful paper to influence Northerners during the Civil War. Written around the time of publication of his wildly successful study of the Civil War, ''The American Conflict,'' letter is addressed to an unnamed lecture agent, presumably in relation to his book, ''...I would like to lecture in Lockport this season, and I will try to do so; but you must be patient with me till I see my way. I am very busy at present.'' Signed boldly: ''Horace Greeley''. Also includes 2.25'' x 3.75'' CDV photograph. Letter measures 4.75'' x 6'' with some glue residue to verso creating a small hole at top right and crinkling at Greeley's signature. Very good.
