Winston Churchill signed cover, possibly a free frank, as Prime Minister of Great Britain. In black ink, the head of state signs ''WSChurchill'' to the lower left, adding a simple flourish beneath. The official 10 Downing Street envelope is addressed in type to politician John E. Harvey, Esq. at the Woodford Division Conservative Association, circa 1955. Envelope originally carried letter to Harvey announcing Churchill's resignation as Prime Minister. Cover measures 7.75'' x 5.25''. Light soiling and creasing, else near fine.
