Broadside issued on 10 November 1666 by King Charles II banishing Jesuit and Catholic priests from England and Wales. The outbreak of the Great Fire of London two months earlier fanned the flames of the widespread anti-Catholic sentiment in the Protestant country as Catholics were suspected to have set it. The King gives priests 30 days to emigrate, excepting only those who work for the Queen. He had banished priests three years prior, but apparently insufficiently. Printed by Assigns of John Bill and Christopher Barker. 11.75'' x 19.25'' broadside is mounted to paper. Toning, creasing and staining, with areas of paper loss through the center and to the left side. Good condition.
