Original Civil War albumen photo of volunteer nurses from Michigan tending to the wounded from the Battle of Cold Harbor, dated 27 June 1864, with well-known wartime nurse Julia Wheelock seated at far left. Card mount reads: ''Head Quarters / Michigan Soldiers Relief Association / White House Va.'' With an additional label to mat describing the scene. Photo measures 4.5'' x 3.25'' and is matted to an overall size of 10'' x 8.25''. Some dampstaining and a small chip to left edge of photo. Very good condition.
