Dwight D. Eisenhower autograph letter signed from Europe during WWII. He writes to his wife, Mamie, in San Antonio, TX, dating his letter simply 9 March [1943]. It reads in part: ''...This letter will come to the U.S. by hand of Butch - who will mail it to you at S.A. When we got to planning this trip of his we thought we were cute as the devil and talked a lot about the swell time you all would have and how he would bring me back to firsthand news of you. Then we got your teletype saying were going to S.A. and I lost interest in the trip...We are having a hard time lately with flying. While Butch is scheduled to make his start one way and the weather man says o.k. - I was due to go another and I'm nailed down...I love you - so much - and you only!! / Always, Ike''. The original envelope is included and signed ''Dwight D Eisenhower'', postmarked 9 March 1943. 2pp. letter on a single sheet measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Creasing along bottom edge and fold lines, else near fine.
