Iwo Jima hero and flag raiser, John Bradley large lot of signed checks, all additionally made out in his hand. Famous for raising the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima -- to the cheers and delight of U.S. soldiers below -- Bradley was awarded the Navy Cross for his extraordinary heroism at Iwo Jima. Checks span his post-WWII life, including several to charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Campus Crusade for Christ. Checks include: 31 from The People's Bank in Antigo, Wisconsin from the 1950s; 34 from The People's Bank from the 1960s; 67 from The Fidelity Savings Bank of Antigo from the 1960s; 39 from the account of Bradley Rentals during the 1980s; 169 from his personal account in Wisconsin during the 1980s. Lot also includes several checking account slips. All but 31 checks measure approximately 6'' x 2.75''; the other 31 checks measure 8.25'' x 3''. In very good condition, most with normal cancellation stamps. Bradley signs his full name on all of them, ''John H. Bradley''. With an LOA from John Bradley's son, ''Flags of Our Fathers'' author James Bradley.
