Bottle of Haig & Haig Pinch scotch owned by John F. Kennedy as President. The bottle served as an inaugural gift when he won the 1960 Presidential election. Lot includes a pair of handwritten receipts for liquor ordered by Jackie Kennedy, the first while JFK was campaigning for the Presidency as a Senator, and the second, while he was President, with the delivery address, ''The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue''. The distinctive scotch blend comes in its original illustrated paper Christmas box, addressed to ''Honorable John F. Kennedy''. Accompanied by a ''Steuben Glass Corning Glass Center'' label, presumably the senders of the gift. Interestingly, Haig & Haig Pinch scotch is historic in its own right as the earliest documented distillery still in operation, with a document on record pertaining to its citation for operating on a Sunday in 1655. In addition, Haig & Haig pioneered the blending of whiskey and eventually mastered it; Pinch was awarded a gold medal by the International Wine and Spirit competition in 1987. Fine whiskey is bottled in Haig's distinctive triangular, dimpled decanter - the first bottle design ever patented in the United States, in 1958. Decanter features an allover veil of hand-wrapped wire netting, originally used to prevent cork popping in shipments headed overseas. Box has some wear, else near fine. Provenance from James H. Boyer, Sr., U.S. Capitol Police Officer and Kennedy chauffeur. Boyer came into possession of the Pinch when he, accompanied by his friend and coworker John J. ''Muggsy'' O'Leary, helped the Kennedys move into the White House from Georgetown. Officer Boyer later stood guard in the Rotunda when Kennedy's body lay in state.
