Hunter S. Thompson postcard, with an autograph note, depicting Big Sur, California, with an arrow drawn by Thompson showing the sulphur bath estate where he would soon be caretaker. On the verso, Thompson writes in full, ''Just spent Xmas & X-eve in hot sulphur baths below arrow. Just me & Sandy & a bit of drink. Hit NY Trib twice last month & have 2 Big Sur assgn. Life here is too good to last & will end next week. Then back to SF & job(s). Will come see you in Jan. Stock up. Idly, H''. Thompson circles his initial and then handwrites, ''Couldn't make the trip east with Maxine [Ambus]. No $$$.'' Postcard is addressed to Thompson's friend Paul Semonin in Aspen, Colorado. Measures 5.5'' x 3.5''. In very good condition with light wear.
