John Dahlgren Civil War-dated document signed as Commander of the South Atlantic Blockade Squadron. Dated 4 July 1864 while aboard the Flag Steamer ''Philadelphia'' on the Stono River in South Carolina, Dahlgren writes to Acting Master William Babcock: ''One receipt of this you will proceed [sic] with all possible dispatch to this anchorage, in tow of the ''Harvest Moon''. Signed ''J.A. Dahlgren''. Document measures 7.75'' x 9.75'' on one page with some toning from former frame and minor creasing, else very good condition.
