Harper Lee autograph letter signed, dated 20 December 2007, on the author's personal stationery. Part of a collection of correspondences, spanning two decades, between Lee and longtime acquaintance Don Salter, who initially contacted the author as a mere fan. Letter, in black ink, reads in full: ''Dear Don: Thank you, old friend, for the delicious chocolates! You have spoiled Alice + me beyond redemption (what a syllable!) but we are not at all apologetic! There's hoping this season brings you an abundance of good things. I can't think of anybody who deserves them more -- with fond wishes, Nelle Harper''. Two page letter, front and verso, measures 5.25'' x 7.5'', with Lee's monogrammed initials at top of her personal stationery. Also includes original postmarked envelope. Near fine.
