Elsa Einstein autograph letter signed, undated but likely circa 1934 as she and Albert Einstein were settling into their lives at Princeton. Elsa writes to her cousin Erich, mentioning that Albert's sailboat had broken, leaving him ''abandoned and lonely''. Albert Einstein's love of sailing is well-known, with some of his best thinking about physics occurring to him as drifted out on the water.

Letter in German translates in full, ''Please forgive the neglect. Too much is happening. I will get through all of this eventually. / There has been a great deal of activity lately due to the Princeton house. I really should be there constantly, and instead I negotiate from here with the workers. This is complicated. / The mast of Albert's boat broke. He is without a sailboat and therefore feels abandoned and lonely. He sculls like mad. / Have you found anything yet? What are your prospects like? / Warm greetings, your / Elsa / In a great hurry!'' Two page letter on bifolium stationery measures 11'' x 8.375'' unfolded. Light toning and wear, overall near fine condition. With full translation.
