Dwight D. Eisenhower autograph letter signed, penned during World War II to his wife Mamie. Dated simply 30 April, letter is likely from 1943, referencing his London aide, Commander Harry S. ''Butch'' Butcher. In part, ''Sweetheart: Just returned from a 4 day trip and a busy one...I've been in rather good health but keep so busy I wouldn't have time to get sick anyway. However, I'm picking up weight, largely due I think to concentrated diet of starches & fats. I've got to cut down. Butch is well & going as fast as ever. He is a great help - because he never gets down hearted. This is a hasty note only, but I did want to get something off to you as quickly as I could. I love you so very much, and I miss you all the time. Lots & lots of love / Always Ike''. 2pp. letter on ruled stationery measures 8'' x 10.5''. Creasing and a small chip to upper right corner of first page, else near fine.
