Dwight D. Eisenhower typed letter signed as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force during WWII. Letter, on the official stationery of the position, is dated August 1944 and addressed to Jackie Dwyer. It reads in full, "I shall be happy to comply with the request of a young American and am enclosing a facsimile of my shoulder sleeve insignia. Sincerely, [signed] Dwight D. Eisenhower". Accompanied by a color illustration of the insignia with official caption typed beneath explaining the heraldic symbols as they pertain to the Nazi Regime. Single-page letter measures 6" x 8". Toning, creasing, a chip to right edge and ink smudge to address. Very good overall. Toning and creasing to enclosed page, else near fine.
