Charles Guiteau autograph note signed from jail, dated February (1882). In this note, the assassin of President James Garfield requests money for his autograph, writing, ''Should you desire my photograph & autograph, please send $1 / C.G.'' Guiteau then adds the postscript, ''Your letter was mis laid - Write again and I will answer at once.'' Penned in black fountain pen by Guiteau, note measures approximately 2.75'' x 4.25'', with irregularly trimmed edges. Discoloration, else very good. With an engraving of Guiteau in prison measuring 6.27'' x 8.75''.
