Charles Darwin autograph letter signed on 6 June 1858, when Darwin was writing ''On the Origin of Species'' which would be published the following year. In this letter Darwin writes to his land agent John Higgins, regarding rent collected from Darwin's farm at Beesby. From his home, letter reads in full, ''Down Bromley Kent / June 9th 1858 / My dear Sir / I am much obliged for your note & account & I beg leave to acknowledge the receipt of 242. 11. 10, being half-year's rent (less deductions) paid to my account at the Union Bank. / My dear sir / Yours sincerely / Ch. Darwin / To John Higgins Esq''. Boldly signed by Darwin over a British stamp. Single page measures 5'' x 8''. Shallow folds, overall near fine condition.
