Iconic Bob Keeshan screen-worn Captain Kangaroo costume from 1979. Keeshan's lovable character was dressed almost exclusively in the red-jacketed Captain uniform from 1971 until his hit children's series concluded its thirty-year run in 1984. Four-piece ensemble comprises the famous red jacket, grey slacks, grey tie and pink button-up shirt: (1) Fire-engine red jacket features large kangaroo-pouch pockets. From the depths of the pockets the grandfatherly Captain would produce such fun surprises as carrots for Bunny Rabbit. Single-breasted jacket was custom made for Keeshan by John F. Kennedy's tailor Chipp of New York & New Haven. Chipp label is sewn into an interior pocket and is typed ''Robert Keeshan / 8/3/79''. Features brass buttons, charcoal grey lining and white braided cord trim along the edges of lapels and pockets. Approximately size 34. Dulling to white trim and buttons, else near fine; (2) Charcoal grey flat-front custom trousers. Approximately size 36 x 29. Near fine; (3) Grey silk men's necktie by Paul Stuart New York in near fine condition; (4) Pink long-sleeved button-up shirt is Carlton Collection by Victory in size 16-35. Ink notations appear inside the collar, else near fine.
