Piece of heat shield taken from the Apollo 9 Command Module ''Gumdrop'', after the successful completion of the mission in March 1969. Apollo 9 completed several critical tasks prior to the moon landing, including manning and docking the Lunar Module. Heat shield measures approximately 1.375'' x .5'', encased in an acrylic display shaped like the Command Module, measuring 3.75'' x 1.75'' x 3.125''. Some yellowing to acrylic, else near fine.
