Abraham Lincoln magic lantern slide, taken by photographer T.P. Pearson in Macomb, Illinois on 26 August 1858, one day before Lincoln's second debate with Stephen Douglas, with Lincoln here even wearing the same outfit for their debate. According to J.C. Power, custodian of the Lincoln monument in Springfield, Illinois, this image best reflects what Lincoln looked like in real life, with friends and neighbors exclaiming upon seeing it, ''There! that's the best likeness of Mr. Lincoln that I ever saw!''. Glass slide is #O-8 in the Lincoln photo canon, and measures 4'' x 3.25'' including casing. Paper label on side reads ''Private Collection of George S. Paine''. Very good to near fine condition.
