Abraham Lincoln document signed on 5 April 1861, days before the outbreak of the Civil War and a month into Lincoln's Presidency. Lincoln gives title of ''Receiver of Public Money'' in the Washington Territory to Samuel W. Brown, who would later serve as President of the Vancouver and Yakima Railroad. Document features full ''Abraham Lincoln'' signature and is countersigned by Caleb Blood Smith as Secretary of the Interior. Measures 14.75'' x 20'', with embossed seal. Folds with separation just starting at edges, and faint spotting. Near fine.
