Unique Mercury 7 signed item, a LIFE Magazine publication signed by four of the Mercury 7 astronauts. ''The Astronauts Pioneers in Space'' features nine chapters, seven of which are written by the Mercury 7 astronauts, who sign their names over the title page for their chapter. New York: Golden Press, 1961. Book is signed by Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, John Glenn and Gus Grissom. The Alan Shepard signature is secretarial and the Deke Slayton and Wally Schirra signatures are autopen. Softcover book runs 93pp., full of photographs of the space program and the astronauts. Book measures 7.25'' x 10''. Light shelf wear, separation starting to joint approximately at mid-point, and foxing to endpapers. Overall very good condition.
